Launched in 2004, the market was born out of the Oro Valley Parks and Recreation Department and the Oro Valley Town Hall’s vision to celebrate community. It has quickly become an important community focal point for the area. Friends, families and neighbors stroll through the market every Saturday morning. The Oro Valley Farmers’ Market has a wonderful, friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Last season the market averaged 30 vendor stalls and over 700 customers each week. Several fun events are planned each year to introduce more customers to this neighborhood gem.

Arizona Emu Oil Products – Barbara and Bill Johnson produce lotions and soaps from the oil of emus that they farm. They also sell emu eggs and peacock feathers. All of their emu oil is rendered by Texas A & M and housed here in Tucson. Barbara explains emu oil is good for joint and muscle pain, burns and as a moisturizer for cracked fingers and heels.
Arizona Outback Emu Oil Co. – Lance and Jackie Talley began raising Emus commercially for their meat, feathers oil and leather in 1995. They began with one pair of emus and at one time had 250 birds. The market for emu red meat was a slow one, though the emu meat is very low in cholesterol but the cost to process and inspect was expensive. So, Arizona Outback downsized their flock and now gets their emu oil from an American Emu Association certified refinery. Arizona Outback began experimenting with the oil and developed their own recipes for handmade soaps by trial and error sharing samples amongst friends, and includes a line of lotions made with emu oil, goat milk and other fine oil. Lance also makes custom mesquite cutting boards, spoons and spatulas with a decorative touch of turquoise.
